Direct Support Staff
Direct Support Professional (DSP/RBT)

Direct care staff are involved in assisting each client with their day to day activities.  This position will report directly and receive supervision from the Lead Staff, Administrator.

Minimum Qualification

  • Must be 18 years of age.      
  • Possess a valid California state’s driver’s license.  
  • Must be in good health which will be verified by health screening, including a test for tuberculosis.
  • Must pass a criminal record clearance and fingerprinted through Live Scan.
  • Be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or must become Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within 12 months of hire date. RTB will be supervised by BCBA/QBMP.
  • New staff must have at least six months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services; and
    • Become a Registered Behavior Technician within twelve months of initial employment, or be either:
    • A licensed psychiatric technician; or
    • A Qualified Behavior Modification Professional
  • Direct Care Staff shall successfully complete both segments of the competency-based training and passage of the competency test, or pass the challenge test, prior to or within one year of employment at the Enhanced Behavioral Supports Home.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Address basic care needs of residents including but not limited to the following:  medical, nutritional, hygienic, social, recreational, personal management, transportation, meal preparations, etc.
  • Address basic household needs including but not limited to the following: custodial, maintenance, schedules and routines, record keeping, documentation, etc.
  • Perform skills training with residents which include but are not limited to the following:  cooking, laundry, telephone, community awareness and access, relationships, budgeting, etc.
  • Participate in the assessment process and collection of data.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of each consumer’s programs, collection and analysis of ongoing data, and other assigned documentation pertaining to each clients program.
  • Communicate with a vast array of people involved with the facility.
  • Attend required training and staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator, CEO or Board of Directors.
  • Receive on-going supervision from BCBA (5%).

Qualifications

Must have at least six months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services. Possess strong communication skills.  Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude.  Ability to either work with a team or independently.   Promote a positive working environment.  

Lead Support Staff
Lead Direct Services Professional (Lead DSP)

The Lead DSP is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of each client’s care and program needs as well as all other aspects of operation of the house in accordance with Title 17 and 22 regulations.  This position supervises Direct Care Staff assigned to their shifts.  The Lead DSP will report and receive supervision from the Administrator.    

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid California state driver’s license.
  • Must possess a valid first aid card and CPR.
  • Must have at least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must be in good health which will be verified by a physical health screening, including a test for tuberculosis.
  • Must pass a criminal record clearance and fingerprinted through Live Scan.
  • Have at least one year prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services; and
    • Become a Registered Behavior Technician within 60 days of initial employment; or, be either:
      • A licensed psychiatric technician; or
      • A Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assure facility compliance with laws and regulations and the implementation of each client’s needs and services plans.
  • Supervise Direct Support Staff regarding the day to day operation of the facility. 
  • Participates and performs duties pertaining to individuals’ needs, including but not limited to the following: activities of daily living, training, food preparation, community outings, administration of medication, medical needs, transportation, clinic appointments, etc.
  • Assure basic household needs are completed including but not limited to the following: cooking, laundry, telephone, community awareness and access, relationships, budgeting, etc.
  • Assure completion of documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of each client’s individual services and needs plan. 
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of people associated with the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator, CEO or Board of Directors.
  • Receive on-going supervision from QBMP/BCBA.

Qualifications

Knowledge of local developmental service delivery system and interdisciplinary process; special features underlying the work with people who have developmental disabilities; ability to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of others; communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, analyze administrative as well as domestic issues and provide resolution; possess writing skills and the ability to prepare statistical and narrative reports; leadership; creativity; pleasant and positive attitude.

Have at least one year prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral services.

Nurse Consultant
The nurse consultant will work in consultation with the healthcare provider of the individuals served to assess and manage medical conditions of the residents by supervising the nursing staff, performing history and physical examination, diagnosis, tests and ensure appropriate medical treatment or referrals. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate, complete health care records and reports.
  • Administering medications to patients and monitoring them for side effects and reactions.
  • Implement prescribed assistive medical devices and related treatments as ordered.
  • Recording patient vital signs and medical information.
  • Implement medical diagnostic and clinical tests such blood sugar levels, O2 Sat
  • Monitoring, reporting, and recording symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
  • Administering non-intravenous medications.
  • Assessing, implementing, planning, or evaluating patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
  • Modifying patient health treatment plans as indicated by patient conditions and responses as prescribed.
  • Administering injections as ordered

Qualification includes a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing (Masters Degree preferred), with at least 2 years work experience in the nursing field.
